No command bar in firefox?
Hi,
I bought my wife an Acer aspire One. It is one of those small laptops. Some things are annoying though. IE has a command bar (is that the right term for the field you type the URL's in?). But whatever you type into it is searched on Bing. My wife's favorite browser is Firefox, but the version that is installed doesn't come with a command bar. Probably to save screen space. I have no idea how to change that. Any ideas? |

Yeah, new firefox doesnt have Menu Bar by default (File, Edit, View etc.), but I didn't think that Navigation Bar (command bar) was off by default. The options to restore those should be options somewhere, or perhaps try right clicking around the top bars and see if a menu pops up....
That's one of the reasons I still use Firefox 3.6 on my computers: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html So I can't check to see exactly what you need to do to fix it right now.... If someone doesn't post where it is in the options soon, I'll load up Firefox 4 and check. |

In Firefox 4 and higher, you can turn on the Menu Bar by clicking the Firefox button then mouse-over then Options selection and click Menu Bar. Alternatively, right-click on a blank part of Firefox near the top of the screen and click Menu Bar.

(Emphasis mine) In Firefox there is a "Searchbar". You can use it to search google, Wikipedia, whatever. If it is not there on any toolbar, you have to right-click on the/a toolbar and select "Customize". The rest in pretty much drag-and-drop, and dragging stuff around on your toolbars. You can even place the searchbar into the menu-bar, like me.
It's best if you try it for yourself. I am sure you'll manage.
