Game patch claims game I was just playing isn't installed.
Ok, so I bought UFO:Aftermath on GOG.com (which is legitimate) and downloaded it. I installed it and it was fine, but my monitor is really really dark and I needed to adjust the gamma correction. Unfortunately, there is no option to do this without patching the game, so I downloaded the game patch and...it tells me the game isn't on the computer. How do I fix this? Can I fix this?

There's been a number of patches for that game. Which one did you get?

I suspect the game is installed in a GOG folder and the patch expects it to be somewhere else. I would try copying the patch to the folder where the game is installed and try running it from there. I'm not terribly confident it will work but it is worth a try.

GOG (Good Old Games) uses an emulator (like DOSBox) typically since the games were not designed under consideration of current operating systems.
When you need support for a game from GOG, including patching instructions and basic support, you would go through GOG. Most games you get from GOG will be the latest version with all patches already installed and use their own installer. I believe this forum will likely cover your issues: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/ufo_series/#1316117050 |
