Psychic weighs in on case of missing Ariz. girl

For nearly three weeks Jhessye Shockley, a five year old girl, has been missing. With no updates, psychic Dave Campbell takes the limelight to make a 50/50 prediction. He gives a lot of detail based on the "planets" and claims 80% accuracy. The police have no interest in consulting a psychic.

Psychic: Jhessye Shockley is alive and in Phoenix

By Heather Moore

The search for 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley has been under way for 2 1/2 weeks now, and still, there are no new leads to report.

CBS 5 News has learned there are a number of psychics taking it upon themselves to work on the case. Glendale police have said it would take some extraordinary circumstances before they would seek out psychic help on any case, including Shockley's.

One psychic who lives near the apartment complex where the girl was last seen shared his vision of what happened to Jhesseye, and that she is not too far away.

"I believe she was abducted. I do believe, at this point, she is still currently alive," said psychic Dave Campbell. "I get information through flashes, through pictures, through sounds, thoughts that come into my head."

Campbell said he believes Jhessye Shockley was taken by a stranger, and is being held in a small apartment in Phoenix.

"I am getting a black female, heavy set, round face, a little bit of cleft in her chin and dimples -- very specific -- and a red scarf that she covers her hair," Campbell said.

Campbell said he believes it was a crime of opportunity. The motive? To sell the little girl for money, he said.

Campbell said he sees the kidnapper snatching Jhesseye in a little red car.
...
He uses charts with dates and times to figure out what happened.

"The relationship of the planets to each other tells me a story," he said.

Campbell said he believes Jhessye's kidnapper has a boyfriend who's involved, an ex-con with a thin build who drives a brown van with tricked-out rims. All of the attention from the media might have changed their plans, Campbell said.
...
Campbell says that 80 percent of the time, his information is accurate. And if he's right this time, she's not too far from home.

"Right now, I do believe she's local," Campbell said. "I think she's still in Phoenix, actually, but I don't think that's going to be the case, soon. I think she's going to be transported, and I think far."

Campbell is part of a larger group called "Find Me" made up of about 110 psychics and led by a former DEA agent.

Campbell said he has helped solve 27 cases, and if, and when Glendale police call on them for help, they are ready.

I would say his prediction is a longer shot than 50/50, given the detail he has provided. I will be very interested to see if KPHO follows up by comparing the result (if and when it becomes known) to this prediction.

I would also be very interested to know the details of the 27 cases the charlatan psychic claims to have helped solve. I note that that last paragraph is worded quite carefully to not indicate that the police regularly ask his group for help.

Since he claims to know so much the police should treat him as a suspect.
Several weeks of day long interviews should be started immediately

Which the scum and his fans would pretend were spent "helping the police with their enquiries", thus accrediting the idea that the police is actually using psychics ...

That used to be the standard euphemism in the UK for "being interrogated as a prime suspect"

Or to quote one of the "News" sections from The Two Ronnies, "a man who’s as deaf as a post, and doesn’t speak English, with a terrible stutter, bad breath and squeaky shoes, is not helping the police with their inquiries one little bit."

KPHO-TV is one of the nation's leading paranormal "news story" stations. As previously discussed here on the JREF forum KPHO-TV "news reporters" just can't avoid a story on psychic detectives that usually heavily promotes the paranormal and often mentions their local 'Find Me' group with "psychic detective" Sunny Dawn Johnston or others. KPHO-TV's record for doing anything but paranormal sensationalism and avoiding the facts is near zero. If you want more factual journalism and credible reports about the paranormal consider selecting any other news station within the United States. KPHO-TV News apparently wears blinders when it comes to helping eliminate paranormal fraud.

That seems to be the reason that the Portuguese police followed up messages from psychics in the McCann case:
Quote:
Police in Portugal are poring over messages from self-professed psychics and clairvoyants in an attempt to track down Madeleine McCann, who went missing exactly four weeks ago.

Two 8cm-thick files of emails and other communications are being examined in case one of them contains a message from the four-year-old's kidnapper, the detective leading the hunt, Olegario Sousa, said today.

Each clairvoyant's claim was being taken seriously in case they were from the person or people who snatched Madeleine from her parent's holiday apartment in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz on May 3, Chief Inspector Sousa said.

"That is one of the reasons that we cannot discard anything," he said. "We must check them all in case it might be from the kidnapper."

All the "psychics" accomplished, of course, was to waste a lot of time.

No surprise the psychic hasn't been helpful.

Glendale girl missing: No significant leads after 1 month

No significant leads, suspects
Nov. 11, 2011
Associated Press

Five-year-old Jhessye Shockley has been missing one month and Glendale police say they still have no significant leads or suspects in her disappearance.
...
Breeden says the department is still working on scheduling a time to bring Jahessye's mother Jerice Hunter in for a polygraph exam.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Phoenix television station KPHO (http://bit.ly/sho5Ev), Hunter insists she's a good mother despite her past conviction and four-year prison stint for child abuse.

Relative Doubts Mom of Missing Jhessye Shockley
November 9th, 2011
CNN.com

The great aunt of an Arizona girl missing for almost a month said Tuesday that she is beginning to suspect that the child’s mother could be responsible for her disappearance.

Brenda Hunter told KNXV that she still supports her niece, Jerice Hunter, but she is concerned by reports that the mother of 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley has not taken a lie detector test. Relatives also told the station that Jerice has not answered their phone calls for two weeks.
...
Asked if she believed Jerice had anything to do with Jhessye’s disappearance, Brenda said, “To be honest with you, I’m just going to be straight out, yes I do.”

She suggested the possibility that Jerice “hit her too hard and just didn’t realize it, you know, and then won’t admit it.”

Brenda Hunter also questioned why Jerice is not out actively searching for Jhessye.

The psychic didn't predict this:
Quote:
Mother of missing Ariz. girl Jhessye Shockley arrested on child abuse charges
CBS News
November 21, 2011

Police said Monday they've arrested the mother of a missing 5-year-old Arizona girl on child abuse charges.

Jerice Hunter was arrested on child abuse charges "directly related to Jhessye," Glendale Police Sgt. Brent Coombs said. Jhessye Shockley has been missing since Oct. 11.

Coombs said Monday investigators don't believe they'll find the girl alive and that Hunter "is our No. 1 focus."

Hunter's apartment was surrounded by police tape Monday as investigators in white jumpsuits searched inside. Police declined to say what investigators were doing.
...
Meanwhile, state Child Protective Services removed Hunter's four other children, including a newborn, from her home but have declined to give a reason. Police have also said they had no involvement in that decision.

Hunter has come under scrutiny during the investigation for an October 2005 arrest with her then-husband George Shockley in California on child abuse charges. She pleaded no contest to corporal punishment and served about four years in prison before she was released on parole in May 2010.

Hunter's oldest child, 14 at the time, told police that his mother routinely beat the children.

George Shockley is a convicted sex offender and is still in a California prison. Hunter has told reporters she didn't know about his past until they were arrested and now has nothing to do with him.

I am convinced that in the mind of a "psychic" it is a completely regular activity to abduct children for the sex trade/slavery. Factually, the most common abductor of a child is the parent or someone the kid knows, but this fact is lost on "psychics". They live in world of CSI or something.

It appears that psychic Dave Campbell was wrong about everything he said if the following statements from the girl's family are true.

Quote:
New court documents detail abuse of Jhessye Shockley‎
November 22, 2011
ABC15.com (KNXV-TV)

New court documents reveal shocking details in the alleged abuse of 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley that led up to the day she was reported missing.

The Glendale girl was reported missing on Oct. 11 near Glendale and 45th avenues.
...
A family member later told investigators that Jhessye’s mother Jerice Hunter said to lie to police about her being missing.

The family member reportedly told police she had actually not seen Jhessye since Sept. 12 despite her reported disappearance on Oct. 11.

After further questioning, the family member then told police Jhessye was seen in Hunter’s closet asleep with several bruises and cuts on her face and body.
...
The family member also later described Jhessye as “not looking alive and that she looked like a zombie.”

According to paperwork, the family member also said the closet where Jhessye had been “looked like a grave and smelled like dead people.”
...
Hunter spent the entire day cleaning the apartment a few days before Jhessye was reported missing, according to the family member.

Paperwork states that credit card records indicate Hunter had purchased several food items and a bottle of bleach from a Walgreens store on Oct. 9, two days before Jhessye was reported missing.

School records indicate Jhessye’s last day at school was Sept. 22, 2011.
...
The court documents were released Tuesday morning after Hunter’s initial court appearance for child abuse charges.

Missing AZ girl believed killed, dumped in trash
By AMANDA LEE MYERS
Associated Press
December 21, 2011

Police now believe a 5-year-old Arizona girl missing for more than two months was killed and that her body was dumped in a trash bin across town before her mother reported her missing — the most substantive information detectives have released about what they think happened to the girl.

Police in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale stopped short of saying who they think killed Jhessye Shockley, although they've previously said the girl's mother is their "No. 1 focus."

A month ago, detectives arrested Jhessye's mother, Jerice Hunter, on a child abuse charge related to the girl. They announced at the time that they didn't believe they'd find the girl alive.
...
The teen also told police that Hunter deprived Jhessye of food and water while keeping her in the closet, and that she saw the girl with black eyes, bruises and cuts to her face and body.

"(She) reported that Jhessye's hair had been pulled out and described Jhessye as not looking alive and that she looked like a zombie," the document said. "(She) said that the closet where Jhessye had been looked like a grave and smelled like dead people."

Poor little mite. As a mother, my heart aches.

Psychics never surprise me with their greed for notoriety, but they also never fail to disgust me. To capitalize on the torturous life and death of a child...there are just no words.
