Christmas spoiler, or a better reason for a merry Xmas?

I'm at work and behind a firewall, so I can't view this link. Could anyone explain what the actual question here is?

There is no question. It's a video explaining the non Christian origins of a number of Christmas traditions (the tree for example).

Otherwise, other than the somewhat cryptic thread title, Explorer prefers to keep his/her thoughts to themselves which kinda make the whole thread pointless.

Perhaps you should start your own thread on your obvious psychic abilities.

My basic reason for starting this thread is in the interests of balance against religious bigots like epix.

Psychic abilities, are you kidding? If I did have such abilities then I would have known know why on earth you started this thread. You post a link to a video and expect everybody to work out what your point is?

So, care to tell us?

In your opinion, is it a Christmas spoiler, or a better reason for a merry Xmas, (both sound pretty much the same to me) or is this just a call out thread on Epix, do tell?

Apologies bluesjnr, I don't know why I was so ratty with you, it must have been an edgy moment for me! Not at all in the Christmas spirit.

My point basically is that non-believers, like myself should be more pro-active in opposition to people like epix and other apologists for religion on this forum topic board. I hope that epix watches it, but I don't really care whether or not he actually responds.

I thought that the video would be an antidote for the church cover up of the real facts surrounding this alleged historical event.

So your using the video as a rally to encourage opposition to religious believers?
I thought the whole reason it was changed to Xmas was that anyone can celebrate the holiday without being label as someone who has a particular belief.

I don't see it as a a cover up but rather if your belief is X, then plug X in and celebrate Xmas that way. The large part of western society is christian so they will celebrate Xmas (with Christ as X) there way.

I will do it my way.

"it" wasn't "changed" to Xmas -- as there is no overriding authority on such things.

The term, as I understand it, is actually Christian in origin, and is simply an abbreviation of the word Christ as X (a greek letter)

I will have to see the video to determine if it is encouraging oppositional attitude or presenting facts to bring up if a Christian is being oppositional.

Ah. Well I will still take away the idea that I really don't care how people celebrate Christmas, cause I do not incorporate any religious association with the holiday.

I personally like the idea of having a 'variable X' mas.

It is a good video. Educational, though not much I did not already know.
