I agree with you. Atheism is an issue, IMO an important issue, but not the only one. I think an organization based on atheism is a lacking idea.

There are various woo-subcultures that are largely atheistic, such as Randroids and singularitards.

Just quickly FYI: I'm in the middle of composing a bit of a defence of Robert Spencer, and in doing so I came across a website, and thought I'd post it here quickly in case it dissapears (I think it's new, and it does (arguably) call for violence, and I'm not sure where it's hosted). If it's genuine then it's a dark gem - a fantastic and very professional jihadist website in English, with lots of video footage, especially of the recent riot in Bonn. I'm going to email it to Jihad Watch too, I'm sure they'll be interested.

Just to be clear, I don't have an issue with organizations based upon atheism with regards to promoting civil-rights, community, and outreach for atheists -- despite the reasons for the members' beliefs or lack of beliefs.

By this you mean Ayn Rand and Singularity enthusiasts, right? You must be some kind of Hatheist!

I was. I'm not sure I'll finish it now though. My activity here tends to correlate very srongly with the amount of assignments I should be doing instead, and I really need to focus on my homework now.

The jist of my reply was going to be that I don't think it's fair to confuse a source of information with the quality of that information, and that it seems a particularly odd thing to do on a skeptics forum.
