You don't have to be going to TAM. You only need to be in the Vegas area, when the meet up takes place. Afterall: Remie, herself, isn't going to TAM.

I live in Dallas, and don't own a car. Might be a little hard to get there....unless you want to meet me half-way...like in west Dallas.

That was a general reminder, for everyone. In case it wasn't already blatantly obvious for someone.

But, perhaps someday there will be a major science/humanist/skeptical event in the Dallas area, and we can get to visit you!

I went to one TAM (well, 1/2 a TAM , 5.5) and while I had fun, and learned a lot, and had a great time (met Phil Plait, had a long chat with Michael Stackpole, lunch at a table with Brian Dunning, and even Randi spent a few minutes talking with me), I can't justify the money to do it again. For the "average" non-crusading skeptic, I just don't think I'll get enough out of it to make it worth the cost.

Perhaps it's like the Muslim Hajj, those who can afford it must go to Mecca, but are only required to go once?

Yeah, it's not an announcement. It's a question.

If you responded 'yes' or 'maybe' in this thread to doing something, I'm working out details and will get with you via PM.

I am not going unless there is a Cobb salad that includes an entire chicken breast with only 2 tablespoons of dressing. (That is a direct reference to the Salad incident.)

Anyone else gonna add themselves to the chart?

Unfortunately, the TAM schedule is sooo jam-packed, I am not sure when visiting you would be best. Maybe Wednesday evening, as an alternative to "Skeptics in the Pub". Otherwise, I already got tickets for stuff on all the other evenings.

But, that doesn't mean planning stuff is impossible. As I said, before: If you would like transportation to the general TAM area (South Point or main strip), we could provide it, and you would probably be able to meet and greet more people! But, it's up to you.

She did that last year; I have to presume that the existence of this thread means she's opted against doing that again this year.

Be careful, Remie -- the last person who publicly declared she wasn't going to TAM got raked over the blogosphere coals for trying to get attention.

Sorry, those were two separate ideas expressed in the same thread. Don't worry; I won't be PMing you unless everyone else is dead and I must run a three-legged race because of the aliens.

Don't bother PMing, I'll be in the cheering section. For the aliens.

Look forward to your non-announcement announcement where you poorly express two separate ideas.

So... rental car or van it is, then!!

(Actual size of vehicle depends on how many are going, so let's fill up that chart!)

That sounds like a confirmation? Add 'im to the list. (Just my OCD kicking in. Have nothing to add. If you guys want to drop by Pattaya on your way to Remie's, I'm in, though. Take a left at the Sunoco, go to the third light to the ramp to the Make Believe Intercontinental Expressway - drive 11,000 km - I'll be the guy in the cheap fedora waiting at the Chonburri off ramp.)

Remie,

Me, me! Conspiraider, Tubba, Bumlet, I'll love to meet you!

I'm up for all extra-TAM activities. I decided not to attend TAM this year, for many reasons:
a) don't want to wake up early on my vacations,
b) paranormal is bogus, I know that,
c) can't handle lectures anymore this year,
d) the cost is high. To assuage my conscience, because I do admire JREF, I pledge to donate $100 later in the year.

So, you see, I'll spend a LOT of time at the Del Mar, or anywhere else I'm invited to. I will be in Vegas especifically to hang out with skeptics. And that is that.

Luciana: You almost scared me. When I first read you weren't going to TAM, I thought you weren't going to Vegas, at all. But, thankfully, I was wrong.

Holy Heckolizoids - a woman from The JREForumz actually wants to see me????? Is this thing on? Am I hallucinogenating??

I'm just shy of committing to a full "yes" on this Remsterina Gala because ya's all caught me midstride in moving across the Country of America (includes Kansas). Once my little Raidey boots make landfall in Californy town I'll be hitting the bricks for WORK in the LA area. So that's the X factor on free time. Oh they wouldn't give me work here in Ohio, nope, let's freeze out Raidey, yeah yeah, instead of calling him a Buckeye we'll tell him Backout, and how about a little no-hire, Scarecrow, uh-huh well --- GOODBYE Cruel State, you! I was the best volcano repairman (person?) you ever saw but where were the asplosions? Huh? Good, I'll just have me 6 or 8 Lava Flows in Lost Wages and laff at YOUSE, Ohio.

Going to Vegas but not attending the convention (nothing against TAM itself, I've just seen it a bunch of times now and there is no need to spend the extra $$$ if I'm just there to hang out with friends). If it involves drinking, the gf and I may have an interest.

My plan is a grand total, for everyone, of $405. This plan may require some revision, depending on if anyone who has said they are coming is super rich!

I'll keep thinking.

I am curious to know what The Plan entails, so far.

And, I assume that doesn't include transportation costs, right?
