Big things can't move that fast at the distance they appear to be, in the atmosphere.
Therefore, they're small things, close.
Put up a screen some distance away in the direction they're seen.
If they go behind it, they're farther away.
Bring some bug spray and check for bugs in the area near the camera(s).

They are filming in what appears to be a freshly ploughed field.

Any second rate farm hand could tell you what is happening here; they are bugs and beetles, attracted by the soil disturbance.

One way to cure this guy of his belief is to get a high speed camera and place it next to his camera. You will then see clearly what is darting around in the frame.

The fact that you can go to this spot and capture it while nobody else sees it from miles away suggests these objects are a LOT smaller and closer to the camera than some might make them out to be. This would be consistent with bugs or small particles of some sort drifting through the air.

first of all google up rods, or flying rods, this is the modern day version of this. But more to the point:

If you watch the video from the news station, when it backlights the original filmer agains his video on a big dscreen, take a look at that arm, thats the hairiest human arm i've ever seen. Clearly it's bigfoot, thats why he asked not to be named!

I like how they brought in a aviation expert but not a video or insect expert. They just assumed it was some sort of craft. There are two obvious experiments.

1. (already mentioned) Set up a screen 20 feet out.

2. Film from the mountains on the other side of town at the same time.

Of course when a second camera does not record the UFO's they will simply say there is something magical about the original spot that allows the UFO's to be filmed.

Yeah. It's a reasonably good recording on its own. They are clearly and obviously insects. I doubt it could have been more obvious even for the person recording it, and they could have just walked outside and been hit in the head by some of those bugs.

I am assuming these bugs could be as far away as around 20 feet depending on the focus of the camera. I understand a digital video camera pointed at the sky will focus to infinity and anything small passing quickly through the frame within 20 feet will be out of focus.

Placing the camera side by side may actual result in confirming the "UFO" is there for some people as they may pick up the same bug 20 feet out. Best to just move down the road a bit IMO.

I am not a digital video expert so feel free to re-educate me on the subject.

Yeah, but at 20 feet, there would be enough parallax against the background to see that it is 20 feet away.

I was going to say that would work unless the bugs were very small and very close but realized at that size and distance the likely hood of the bug crossing both FOV is very very small.

Very well then, side by side it is.

Quick back of the envelope math says that with 2 cameras 6 inches apart, and a background 10 miles away, an object 20 feet away will have a quarter mile difference in it's position on the background in the two images.
