Let's Start a Political Party
Who's interested?
First, let's give it a name. We need some ideas. How about "Put your X here"? How about "None of the above"? How about "Competence plus integrity"? How about "Kinder Gentler Party"? |

Let's just hijack the Libertarian party, I hear that's not too hard to do.

No one but me to repudiate the party platform.
<marquee>NEWSFLASH:How about the League of Nihilistic Solipsism? If you are a genuine solipsist then you believe no one else could consider not joining the League. If you are not a genuine nihilist then you would not deny it. If you are not a genuine solipsist then you do not belong in the League. If you are a genuine nihilist then rejection of any other League is necessary.

1 - As representatives of the League of Nihilistic Solipsism, "we" hang tough in a world of epistemological failure and cosmic purposelessness; a world in which nihilical solipsists, along with other proto-phenomena and apparent p-zombies, are, every now and again, sovereign over existential horror and emotional anguish, and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her repudiation of all imposed values for the benefit of others' nonlinguistic illusions. 2 - "We" observe that the bodies of other human beings behave as my body does in similar circumstances and, so, infer that the mental life and series of mental events which characteristically accompany my bodily behaviour - today, quite possibly, suicide - are also present in the case of others. It is further observed that the banality inherent in any recognition that such behavior is not necessarily meaningful oft subverts critical tools and seems to make inescapable an environment where pointless ideas can be imposed forcibly with little resistance. 3 - Consequently, "we" defend each person's right to engage in any series of astounding improbabilities most likely destined to fail after a lifetime of meaningless suffering. And although within the world "we" picture one does not absolve his or her self of arbiting ultimate moral responsibility, there may very well be times when wandering the streets wearing a sign "I am not drunk. I am crazy. Give me some goddamn money!" will just have to do. It helps to be good looking and well spoken when alienated by a crippling spiritual emptiness. 4 - In the party platform "we" will set forth our basic principles and enumerate various policy stands derived from those principles. These specific policies are not the goal, however. Decades of scientific inquiry and careful research have ended within a perspective of utter futility for life and universal existence and the unavoidable conclusion that there is no point. |

- A political party consisting of... whom? Skeptics worldwide? Whose government shall we attach ourselves to?
- The ideal political party (in my mind anyway) is one of mere humanity. But meh, never happen. |

Frank Newgent: That's brilliant. I'm in, just for the social life. One so seldom gets to meet fellow solipsists (stolen, sadly).

The League reluctantly awards its ambassadorship to the Iraqi transitional government to American.
How about the League's Welsh adjutant to the US federal prosecutors' special counsel investigating possible White House felonies, CapelDodger? Scene from League's post-election party |

I would join the League, except that no-one can prove to me why I should, and I don't really care anyway.
So I guess I'm a member by default?

Nihilism - what's not to like?
Solipsim - it's about YOU! As adjutant in the White House inquiries, I pledge that the first thing I'll do is get Rumsfeld to stand on his tippy-toes for eight hours. That's not to get information, just for the sake of it. Rather than classify "me" as Welsh (long story there), shouldn't this be a world-wide movement? There are lots of people out there that need the solace nihilistic solipsim has to offer "them". |

Mentioned nationality only to compensate for the League's Iraqi ambassador. And out of concern that if broad-minded universal brotherhood clocks in prematurely that Big Mac wrappers will just end up all over the floor at The Hague. Rear dwarf in the dinosaur suit? No more with Nihilistic Solipsism! |

"Your" opinion may be wrong, but who the hell are "you"? As a Nihilistic Solipsist (damn, I've got myself an ideology. Never saw that coming) I recognise that as a manifestation of me being wrong. Which is democratic.
Go on, prove me right. To the satisfaction of crackmonkey. (Trick challenge : there is no satisfying crackmonkey. Gotta respect that.) |
