TAM 2013 forum grant program

Folks,

Once again, it is time to open the forum grant program for TAM 2013. If you are interested in receiving a grant to cover some or all of the TAM 2013 registration fee, please send me a PM or an email. You must include your name, postal address, email address, and a short paragraph explaining why it is that you should receive a grant. Please also indicate whether you are a student and whether you are a JREF member (not just a forum member).

We ask that if you apply for a forum grant, your plan is to attend all the TAM sessions, rather than simply "hang around at TAM."

We need donations to make these forum grants possible. Starting today, you can send a check to the JREF with "TAM 2013 forum grant donation" written on the memo line. Soon it will be possible to donate online; I will make another post with the specifics when available.

Thanks to all who donate to the TAM 2013 forum grant program.

~~ Paul

I am also sober. I will probably donate when they get the on-line thing up, eventually.

I will donate to both this and Sara Mayhew's Rising Star grant.

This one has the better, established reputation. But, Sara is giving donors a cute button. So....

We have 13 forum grant applications so far. Please help us bring these deserving folks to TAM 2013!

Howdy all,

I've been sooooo out of the loop (this is the first time I've logged in since January I think), but I just chipped in a little money. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend TAM this year. Have fun

Cheers - MM

Purchasing a new house and the related expenses. Not to mention, my summer is winding up to be hellishly busy. So between those things, I had to drop TAM for this year.

Paul -
How are the grants going this year? Are the donations meeting most of the demand from the applications? Should we announce the names of some grant recipients in an effort to increase donations?

We have given out 12 grants so far. I should be giving out a couple more in the next few days.

We don't make the names of grant recipients public, but please donate so that more awards can be given.

There actually were more funds than applicants. Downright amazing. That problem has been solved.

However, that doesn't mean that people are done contributing, so if you want a grant, apply now!

Really??!! I'd love for my son and I to be able to come again, but I was feeling greedy since I'd gotten grants a couple other years. How do I apply, I don't remember?

Whew! I'm pleased to inform you that we are back to normal, where there are more people on the request list than there are funds to grant them.

I have four people who need grants. If everyone reading this post were to donate $25, they would be coming to TAM.

There are two people on the request list without enough funds to cover them. We'll see if any more donations roll in over the next couple of weeks.

I'm pleased to report that 24 TAM forum grants have been given out.

There is one more person on the request list now. If you can spare a few bucks, let's bring her to TAM!
