Aussie Soldiers sacked for killing kittens

So there.

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/20...?from=storylhs

Quote:

Six soldiers sacked yesterday for torturing and killing a litter of kittens had brought shame and discredit on the Australian Defence Force, an army spokesman said.

Their behaviour at an Easter Saturday drinking session at a Townsville barracks was well below expected standards, he said.

The RSPCA welcomed the decision. It had delivered justice for the kittens, a spokesman said.

The soldiers are able to appeal against the decision. Their discharge will be suspended until the appeal is dealt with.

Their treatment of four stray kittens at the Lavarack Barracks prompted nationwide outrage.

One kitten was dragged on a rope behind a motorcycle, then crushed under the tyre of a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Three others were doused with fuel and set alight.

RSPCA national president Hugh Wirth said the organisation now had a measure of satisfaction that proper justice had been delivered for the kittens.

"This was an appallingly barbaric act by those soldiers and the army is quite correct in that there's no place for such humans in the proud Australian army," he said.

I beieve there is a strong link between people who are capable of these sort of acts on animals and people who perpetrate atrocities on humans....I think many serial killers have histories of animal abuse... Certainly dismissal is appropriate. Although dragging them behind a motorcycle after dousing them in petrol and applying a match also appeals to me.

Can't find an exact link, but locals were miffed that a police helicopter wasn't forthcoming sooner. All such resources were tied up with GWB's visit to US-EU summit. Some locals went on record to say that if the puma harmed a living thing before the helicopter arrived on the scene, Bush should take sole responsibly.

What a shocking thing to suggest. Petrol is a finite resource I'll have you know.

If you like justice apportioned with a touch of irony then I would suggest feeding the culprits to half starved big cats.

Don't be silly. That 'puma' was likely just a stack of phone books that sneaked over from Scotland.

The Geneva Convention does not apply to kittens, therefore the soldiers did nothing wrong.

Sure it is cruel to torture kittens, but if by torturing them you gain information that saves thousands of people, isn't it worth it?

Brilliant! I never thought of that.... Do you have any links indicating if any of the kittens talked?

Of course not. What ever the kittens said is sensitive military intelligence. You can't expect that to be freely available.

You just have to trust the government. If the kittens didn't have any important information, it wouldn't have tortured them. Australian soldiers are not a bunch of undisciplined trigger-happy, bitch-slapping yahoos you seem to be willing to believe they are.

They are very disciplined, especially those in the Kitten Brigade.

I think you're defining 'torture' differently than any rational person would. What they did to those kittens was totally lightweight compared to real torture that's done to real Americans. They could have done a thousand times worse before the kittens felt any pain at all!

And whoever thought of an RSPCA? Humane solutions to such animals is simply coddling creatures that should be eradicated. Those kittens deserved what they got because they weren't Christian. You really just want to give those animals a radio station and all they'll do is spread lies about America.

Co-incidently enough, our youngest cat (barely out of kittenhood), brought a nestling this morning. So much for the species of peace.

To be fair the soilders thought that they were aboriginal kittens. In which case killing them wouldve been legal.

How ever did I sleep last night, knowing that my enemy's kittens were suffering, and liberals were angry about it?

Very, very well.

- Has the world suddenly gone cruelty-crazy on me or something? This is the second case of cat burning I've stumbled across in a week, the first one being videotaped by two youngsters for kicks.

- WTF is wrong with people? WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?
