Further proof that psychics do cause harm!

Take a look at these poor fools as their lives are ruined by the belief in psychics:

This case could have been just as related to gambling or drugs. I see correlation, but not causation.

Gambling and drug abuse don't require a belief in supernatural powers. Psychics charging for their services is outright fraud.

What accurate?

The con-artist/psychic got a couple city employees to rob U.S. citizens of federal funds for readings.... it obviously didn't provide psychic information that led to savings for the city... or the employees could have repaid the stolen money.

That's federal funds. That's my taxes and that's $55,000.00 worth of housing services to the poor in that city. All gone due to fraud.

Every event in life is more complex and intricate than is bourne out in the results. Like the Mona Lisa, the portrait is often simple and straight forward... but the painting of it shows true genius. And thus is such as is this letter, the sending of which involved more than just the simple words strung together here.... I yelled at the monitor too.

The indictment says that between February 2002 and May 1, 2003, the two women used funds from the City of La Grulla’s general fund account at Texas State Bank to pay a psychic about $53,700 for psychic consultations, which included the use of tarot cards. Lopez and Cortez, the indictment says, tried to conceal their illegal activities by signing and approving "fraudulent invoices, vouchers, work orders and contract agreements." These documents showed payments to non-existent businesses for supplies and services that the city never received.
Simple fraud/embezzlement, the reason does not really matter. This was not a case of them trying to do something for the city.

For all we know, the psychic might have been the one to blow the whistle on them.

The psychic might have been laundering the money for them.

The psychic might have not known anything at all (although that's a lot of money).

Lotsa 'don't knows'.

This is like saying if someone's an atheist and they rob a bank, LOOK! all atheists are bad.

Just being contrary today.
