Believers required

I am a psychic reverend new to this awful den of iniquity. So far all I have found here are various lunatics, deranged psychologists, and two peculiar gentleman one of whom thinks he is William Shakespeare and the other who seems to think he is a Danish Pastry.

I am curious to know if I am the only follower of metaphysics here.
In other words I am seeking other fellow believers. I am finding it rather a handful talking to so many demented people at once whose only argumentative technique is to use negative personal remarks instead of logic.

I am wondering if I am alone in the wilderness. If I am not please register your presence on this thread. I would like to know who is agin me and who is for me. Actually let me amend this. I have no interest whatever in hearing from the various lunatic sceptics here. If any of them venture forth here they will not be replied to or even acknowledged.

I simply want to know if there are fellow spiritual people here. If there are I suggest we band together and help each other out.

You are not alone. Mark Lewis is here to offer his assistance.

So you resort to personal attacks, only to decry others who do the same.
Are you disgusted by your own behaviour?

To answer the OP, there are various posters here who seem to have self identified as 'believers' in one sense or another...they seem to represent a variety of belief systems, and in some cases to be poorly made parodies of certain stereotypes.

I'd think it quite logical for a true psychic to become a million dollars richer.

Takes deep breath, and reminds herself that she was going to be MUCH nicer in the upcoming year, ignores the rude comments in Mark's original posting and asks..

So, Mark, what do you believe in? And what help do you offer?

So, a man is visiting his brother at the family house. The brother has children, and in the midst of their conversation their is a sudden outbreak of yelling and screaming in childish voices from the other room about the contents of a box of chocolate.

The man (who has no children) says "What on earth is that?!!!"

The brother replies "That is the din of inequity!"

Sorry, this is the only time I've been able to relate this joke. But I think its considerably better than Mark Lewis' posts. Ok, thats not a big leap to achieve.

Fair enough. You seem very kind to be concerned for him; if it makes you feel better, I am more and more convinced that he is not ill, but merely a troll. I hope for his sake that I am right.

Re: Believers required

I'm fairly sure psychic phenomena exists, but I only believe a small percentage of the claims though. Anyone can claim to be 'psychic' and most are not psychic to a degree that merits the claim of being psychic.

Quote:

Psychic clergyman? I didn’t think psychic phenomena and a clergyman of Christianity are very compatible terms.

I thought you were a psychic magician? Actually I’m not sure ‘psychic’ and ‘magician’ terms sit comfortably together either.

The main opposition to the acceptance of psychic phenomena in the past was Christianity … today the main opposition to psychic phenomena is psychologists and magicians. Magic (the art of deception) and psychology (the study of deception) are much the same thing, wouldn’t you agree?

The general public tend to place great trust in magicians and psychologists opinion on psychic phenomena but should they? I think magicians and psychologists would make the perfect media manipulators of public opinion since they understand the public’s psychological reactions? For example if a government really was trying to hide the worth of e.g. remote viewing, who better to make it appear completely useless?

I love magic, but I trust magicians about as much as I trust freemasonry, since both are secret clubs or clubs with secrets. Don’t these have connected origins? Doesn’t t freemasonary come from ritualistic magic?

What is the early origins of ‘magic’? Was it sincere people (i.e. not cheating) trying to produce paranormal (white magic) good outcomes (whether successful or not) ? If so, how did the word come to mean today a secret conjuring knowledge or a psychological con trick? A sincere, genuine, good person would never use magic to con another, so was the origins of deceiving conjuring magic really an attempt to manipulate for advantage? Is that not black magic? What better way to conceal real but weak magic from others than with imitation trickery?

Sorry for rambling on …… but as a ‘psychic magician’ I think your opinion on this might be interesting (to me, if no other)

You are all being far to nice.

Psychics speaking to the dead, IMHO, are the worst type of conmen and frauds.

They are parasites preying on people at their most vulnerable and contaminating memories of loved ones with invented BS.

Some have an excuse because they are self-deluded.

Mark Lewis is at the very bottom of this particular pile of nauseating filth as he makes no excuse and proudly claims in his arrogance how he benefits financially from his fraud.

He practices his deceptions and swindles with no regard for his victims and no concern about performing a scam that is condemned by his own book of faith.

Mark Lewis, you are a liar, a cheat, a fraud, a hoaxer and criminal in intent and action if you claim to speak to dead people.

Prove me wrong.

Take the Randi challenge...

or continue to slither around in the slime with the lowest scum of humanity that you seem to take so much pride in.

Well, whatever. Mr. Lewis inquired repeatedly on other threads why we "lunatics" don't post our real names, addresses, etc. Although that is a good question from a psychological standpoint (perhaps we are all fraudulently creating new personae) I don't think that applies, since I'm sure anyone with much to say here also is savvy enough to protect their identity and IP address, etc. ad nauseum. Who cares, anyway? I can supply that if anybody gets that interested in *me*, just ask.

But on the other hand, it creates an amazing "demos" for the democratic process. Nobody really gets to walk on anyone else, unless they can walk the walk of evidence. If the topic gets metaphysical, then there are folks here that jump right in the breach and know way more about philosophy than I do. If it comes down to the "hard science" issues, there are likely astronomers here that can give the latest from the newest quasar.

So the thing that Mr. Lewis *has* done, is to stimulate thought, with arrogance and stereotypic insult. Baboons, indeed. Speaking now, I guess, as a lunatic baboon, I'd be happier reading his comments if he felt generous enough to speak our language. Something between grunts, but something less exalted than "trust me I'm a [seer/psychic/shaman/saint/insider/old-timer]."

OK, this has made me curious...

We DO have regular 'believer' posters here at JREF, but I don't see them responding to Mark Lewis' shout out for allies...

Are they skeptical of him too, or do their psychic senses tell them something about him that the rest of us don't know?

hmm... now that you mention it, I am noticing a creeping sensation up my leg...the Curse!!! Oh no!!! It was put on my, by the Evil Eye. Oh, so many years ago. Wouldn't you know, it was the Message Board of Doom that did it. If only I had listened to the Seer when I had my chance. The one that said "A man (could be woman) with the initials (M... L... B...S [or could be P]) and may be in contact, or not, or may be important! Or Not! It could just be a sign!

OK, I'll stop on this. I have a huge respect for the JREF caliber of ability. You folks are great.

Agreed. Would it be too soon to nominate Mark Lewis for the Biggest Douche In The Universe?

Quote:
STAN: I am saying this to you, John Edward.
You are a liar, you are a fake, and you are the biggest douche ever.
JOHN EDWARD: Everything I tell people is positive and gives them hope. How does that make me a douche?
STAN: Because the big questions in life are tough: Why are we here, Where are we from, Where are we going. But if people believe in ******* douchey liars like you, we're never going to find the real answers to those questions. You arent just lying, you are slowing down the progress of all mankind. You douche.
