Did he almost say "evolve"?
Bush, that is, in yesterday's press conference. It's not in the official transcript, but I could have sworn I heard him correct himself when answering the question about the airspace violation a few weeks ago:
President: "Obviously, we do have a protocol in place to be dealing with a situation that can evol... unfold very rapidly..." 'Evolve' is an acceptable verb to use there, so why did he correct himself. Might it offend some of his religious right supporters despite the innocuous context? This administration was very touchy about the use of the word the word "privatize. Might "evolve" and "evolution" also be considered taboo? |
