The War on Books

If drug laws make the trade in illegal drugs very profitable, then perhaps it should be illegal to sell books. Selling books will then become very profitable. Pushers in inner city areas will vigorously sell books to people. To satisfy their customers, they will become familiar with the various titles.

Get ready for news stories like this:

"Today, Port Authority Police confiscated a shipment of 9,000 dictionaries with an estimated street value in excess of $2,000,000."

I really don't think that making books more costly and/or rare would be desireable.

Can you quote anyone who is on record opposing the war on drugs saying something like, "The war on drugs has made drugs rare"?

Chris Rock had a great act on this.

"Hey man, I got two pages, man, two pages..."

I'm with you on this. But perhaps there are some delusional drug-war supports (almost redundant, I know) that could say something that stupid.

I remember the P&T episode, talking to the warden in the sothwest (Arizona, I believe, but I'm not sure) who is famous for keeping inmates outside in tents.

He was saying that he disagreed with the "freedom of choice" view on legalizing drugs. Because he said (and I am not making this up), if drugs were legal "Your doctor would be lighting up a joint while he was performing surgery on you." What an IDIOT. Does he think that my doctor is drinking whisky while performing sugery on me, just because alcohol is legal? Moron...
