What's this thing you have with bedwetting? is it your personal terror? I would spring for a box of Depends for you, except that I don't like you enough to do anything of the sort.

We jump all over Ian for resorting to insults, and yet you right wing loudmouths think it's your God-given right to insult people. Every time you call someone a "bedwetter" from now on, I'm calling you a "faggot". Let's see if you're trainable. |

What's with all this bedwetter bullsh*t? If I don't like war then I'm a bedwetter? Fine then, I'm a proud bedwetter.

This article lumped just about every current demonstration on Earth into one story. I'm not sure if they are trying to insinuate that these are all war protests. Seems to just be another May Day Protest story, although through the first half of the article, it led me to believe the story was all anti-war demonstrations and that that the entire world is just "screaming bloody murder" about the war. Sounds like most of these people were protesting their own economies and issues. Bedwetters? If you want to insult a liberal, then call him/her a "liberal" (and maybe do it somewhere else too). It doesn't seem to apply anyways since the Iraq conflict wasn't the focus of many of these events. What was the point of this thread anyways? I'm not sure I've addressed it I think this thread was started as an excuse to use the term "bedwetter".

May the first is also Beltane, a pagan celebration of life and fertility, and a good excuse for a boinkfest.
Um... I probably won't be making many posts tonight. |

I think in all the talk about his choice of words, people are missing the point that quite a few of these "protests" are basically riots. This happens every year. The Left, particularly the European Left, decided to hold an annual riot on May 1. Everyone just seems to accept that this is going to happen. Why isn't something done about this?

It just makes me wonder how school systems work in Europe. Is socialist doctrine taught from birth? Since europeans are less religious than americans, does enviorwhacky and socialist utopian fantasies of how the world and human nature works replace the old religions?
I was overseas a few years ago talking to some european and austrailian guys in a bar, and they thought all americans were arrogant jesus freaks. So I'm sure my perception is limited because I've never been to Europe for an extended period of time. It seems that there are a lot of watermelon people (green on the outside red on the inside) in Europe and some of them are in power. |

When you call the protestors "bed wetters" then you are also applying that epithet to anyone who agrees with them. Come, Tony. We don't need to harm the image of Texans any more by being so petty. Besides, there can only be one Jedi Knight. |

If someone goes to a pro-war rally, would you call them a fanatic, or a patriot? There is a semantics game that people sometimes play, showing different viewpoints of the same thing. It goes like this. I have powerfully held convictions. You are stubborn as a mule. He is a bed wetting fanatic. Now do you see why the use of invectives serves no purpose? And thanks for the PM. |

Is anyone who boycots the Dixie Chicks a fanatic? I’m sure some of them are. Personally, I thought the Dixie Chicks fiasco was stupid. Kinda like the fiascos with Trent Lott and Santorum. People are just looking for sh*t to bitch about. And thanks for the PM. No prob., since you're from Houston, I thought you would be interested in that website. |

May Day is a celebration that in the vast majority of cases are peaceful. The media mainly focuses when there's trouble, and that of course can give the wrong impression that May Day arrangements are always pested by violence. While I'm sure there are plenty of cases to point to, the reality might show that it's only 1% or even 0,1% of cities that experience such troubles. It's a shame that such a day at times gets ruined by a small group of rock throwing lunatics.

And about idealolgy. I don't believe that people subscribe to any given ideology simply to "p*ss people off". I think that however misguided, everybody believes that they are doing what is best for humanity, their country, or the world. I think that many of them on both sides are short-sighted, but I don't think any truly belive that they are doing the wrong thing, but damn the torpedoes.

BTW. Trent Lott is not a fanatic, though he showed extremely bad judgment. It's hard to give Santorum the same benefit of the doubt. The interviewer gave him every opportunity to back off of his tirade, but he just continued on in a way that few reasonable people can defend. He's about as much a fanatic for the right wing as Al Sharpton is for the left wing. |
