New question for kurious_kathy...
How do you feel about the Nation of Islam?
What do you have to say to Louis Farrakhan about his religious beliefs? ETA: THese are the official platform of beliefs as laid out by Elijah Muhammed in 1965:

If her experience is anything like mine was, she firmly believes that Islam is wrong and heretical, because it denies the divinity of Christ.
My religious upbringing was so strict, I felt guilty my entire Junior year of HS because I took a World Religions class. We weren't allowed to even learn about other religions, lest we become "infected" with their heresies. Of course, you asked Kathy, and so she should answer for herself, but I'm willing to bet dollars to doughnuts her answer will be "they're heretics," or something similar. |

Actually if you want to diagnose my personality is type A so of course I am quite voicetross and expressive as a human being. I have strong likes and dislikes. Type A personaily is just one of my attributes.
But when it comes to the problems in this world...I get very upset to see so much violence and deceit in the world. Does this make me even more extreme, Yes! But I unlike you know the battle is the Lords. I myself had gotten so sick watching the news after 911 I stopped watching the news. I might read headlines in the paper but I am not one that is well educated on what goes on world wide nor do I want to be. If God leads me in a direction to become more active in politics, or teachings concerning other world views and religions, then I am open. But I am more of a people person than an historian or politician! |

As a Muslim, if I love God and do good works, is there a place for me in heaven?
Luke, Chapter 10, 25-28 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. |

Of course not! Allah is a false god and anyone following him deserves to burn forever in the lake of eternal fire! I am so glad I've got Jesus in my life so I can be with him in Heaven and spend the rest of eternity laughing at your anguished screams. [/kurious_kathy] |

You have a point. Seems many of us could learn to question things on a historical or political platform.
I just got this e-mail from CRI on Nancy Pearcey's new book that I think I will buy.http://www.equip.org/store/details.asp?SKU=B876 |

Actually, in KK's belief system, ignorance is one of the greater--if not the greatest--virtues. After all, the first sin was eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God wanted us to stay ignorant (and don't get me started on that again).
People who are ignorant are easy to control and can be led to believe almost anything. Education is seen as a tool of the devil. See, the more you know, the better you are at asking questions, but asking questions leads to doubt. Doubt is bad. We must never doubt God, nor doubt those who are obviously God's messengers. (It's obvious, because they plainly say they are God's messengers. And who would lie about such a thing?) Ignorance, we can see, leads to obedience. Therefore, ignorance is good. |

I think it would be wise for all people to consider what they think is wisdom? Do you think a college education is the only thing that makes someone smart? If so I would strongly disagree with you. I am thankful that God uses the foolish things according to mans wisdom to reveal His truth! Should we not all stay humble and teachable? I think so.
And I really don't understand why ,slingblade you choose to call me stupid? Do you see me calling you stupid? It's not very nice of you in my opinion. |

I didn't call you anything, lady.
I did, however, touch a nerve. Ignorance and stupidity are not the same things. ETA: Got news for you: I was smart long before I went to college. |

I'm glad you feel that way. It is good for someone to feel confident in their understanding of life and things attached to it. It is said however a man thinks, so he is? My mom always tells me this one.
I guess some of my biggest concerns about society is people just don't treat others the way they want to be treated. |

Well put. I think you've hit the nail on the head here.
I haven't heard anyone here say that. There are plenty of idiots with degrees. There are plenty of smart, respected posters on this forum without much formal schooling. Playing the "you're picking on me because you're more educated" card won't work here. I think you might be projecting just a bit. |
