One of my bands songs!

Well, this is one of my bands songs - A track from about to be released 2006 promo

Its in the Death/Black Metal genre, so if you dont like or even appreciate the style, its not worth your hassle to download!

anyway, for the fellow heathens - enjoy!

this will give you an idea what to expect from us but not limited to this more black metal style

Song: Demon and the Tree of the Dead

Band: Beyond Mortal Dreams

Hmm, I have some criticism if you don't mind: the sound quality is a little iffy... it sounds like there are some solid riffs but they're lost in the huge wall of sound. :|
Also, a really fast song with lots of blast beats doesn't work so well in the 7-minute spectrum, IMO.

Other than that, good effort. I've heard worse, to say the least.

Not bad, but the drum track dominates, and it shouldn't.

hmm, i can hear the riffs just fine, and i think the production is excellent. the "wall of sound" suits the music's atmosphere quite well, i think.

i disagree entirely, especially when the drumming is filled with so many interesting fills, as is the case here...

but it should be noted that after about four minutes, there's more double bass than blast beats...

that's kinda subjective. i love the drumming, and i love recordings where the drums really stand out, and can be easily heard.

i still think this stuff is excellent. there's a combination of styles and influences that i rarely hear; most black/death metal lacks atmosphere, and most often those who can write/play black metal don't mix in death metal influences. it's just not very often that i hear a band playing a mix of black and death metal that can manage to hold any sort of atmosphere that i find appealing...

They're audible, but I don't think a "wall of sound" type of production fits anything except maybe Electric Wizard. :P I prefer "crunchier" death metal myself.

True, it did morph into double-bass midway through. But I still think few death metal songs can do well at the 7 minute clock, even by more experienced bands.

Wha...? There are plenty of such bands, dude. Ever heard Luciferion, The Chasm, Behemoth, early Therion, early Amorphis, Possessed, Necronomicon, Nocturnus, the first Darkthrone? These bands/albums are all very atmospheric, and in some cases also mix BM influences.

well, this all getting rather subjective. to my tastes, the above bands don't create significant atmospheres, despite the fact that they certainly play certain mixes of black/death metal.

i think we likely hold different musical preferences. i am mainly into ambient/atmospheric black metal. most black/death metal captures a completely different feeling than the stuff i tend to listen to, such as burzum, wyrd, vinterriket, vinterland, obtained enslavement, limbonic art, dawn, etc. hellaeon's music, however, seems to capture a bit of that "black metal spirit" that i find so significant, even though it is highly influenced by other metal sub geners. even most "modern" black metal bands don't manage to capture that feeling anymore...

No atmosphere in The Chasm or Luciferion? Now I've heard it all...

I understand the association of Burzum with atmosphere, but really, really not with Limbonic Art. Yech, what a vapid, dull band. Even Dimmu Borgir is better.

it's all completely subjective. we could argue for days regarding that which defines atmosphere, but it always comes down to personal perception; some people find some music significant, and others find other music significant.

Boom Ching mate.

Though I find epic or longer tracks (as would show here in my music), or even concept albums the bees knees for me.

Pink Floyd - Wish you were here, Animals ...
Nocturnus - The Key...etc
King Diamond - Abigail, Them, Conspiracy....
etc....
