Hindu woman claims to be Jesus

Thirty-five year old Hindu woman claims to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

Here's an interesting convergence of opposing religious beliefs.

Quite. The birthday message from god is a new one, isn't it? Can't say I've heard that before.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give her a 6.8. I've seen more thought-provoking claims, and definitely more exciting ones, and even one or two that have really made me wonder, but she's at least got a little creativity going for her.

She should put herself on eBay! I mean, if someone will pay $25,000 for a grilled cheese sandwich, think what they'd pay for the real deal.

I just think it's interesting when you have two different religions go head to head like that.

Hindu: Jesus was a well-respected man in our faith, people can be reincarnated, and I am a reincarnation of Jesus.

Christian: You can't be! There is no reincarnation, and even if there were, Jesus is our Savior and therefore off-limits to you.

Hindu: But look! I've had stigmata and all these divine signs assuring me that I am Jesus!

Christians: We only believe divine signs when they're found by our followers and don't challenge our dogma. Oh, look! This bagel looks just like Jesus!

I know I'm putting words in their mouths, but there's something about some Christians' ability to selectively accept outrageous claims (The Virgin Mary statue is crying!) and reject others (God's written a blessing on her arm? But she's a heathen!)

I fear somewhat for her mental health, but a lot depends on how this experience affects her. If believing she's Jesus has led her to be a kinder person, then it's no more harmful than any other religious belief. If believing she's Jesus has led her to do "miracles" for money, it's no less harmful than any other religious belief.
