Dual reality?

I'm becoming pretty good -- almost Harry Potter good -- at basic sleight-of-hand and misdirection routines. Now i would like to go one step further.
I often see references to the "dual reality" principle. What's that? Can anyone give me an example, without spoiling any magic secret?

Cheers in advance.

Derren Brown does a lot of dual reality effects. Its basically the spectator experiencing something different to what it appears.
He has two spectators stood behind one another, one behind raises his arm and the one seated's arm lifts seemingly just by this unseen action.Except spectator seated in front knows why his arm raises!

So dual reality means that i do one thing but make everyone believe i'm doing something else (inelegantly stated)?
I'll make up an example to see if i understand it correctly. I bring out a cigarette (really a chocolate-filled cigarette), light it up (actually using a palmed flashlight for effect), inhale and blow out some smoke (that comes from palmed cartridge), then look at the cigarette and suddenly bite off a chunk of it. Would that be dual reality? To me that just seems like good old deception.

It seems like duel reality involves two groups of spectators seeing two different things, like one group is "in" on the illusion and the other is not. Problem is, that description of two being seated is not clear at all to me. I'm not entirely sure what's being said.

Coudn't tell to read what you've typed. You seem to have a good grasp of the language.

I found Derren Brown's book of mentalist effects, and it contains a few dual reality tricks. Very clever indeed!
