Since you're back to your old ways already, I think you've been drinking again, SBrown.

"Psychiatry Exposed" ???

It seemed more like a poor attempt to present biased and fallacious opinions of woos as fact and edit legitimate doctors' statements to just say what the woos want you to hear.

I will agree that the three people presenting it are "WOO Doctors" though.

People have spent a lot of their time here showing you "the ropes." If you want more attention and want to talk about yourself, I suggest starting a thread in the community subforum. I'll be putting you on "ignore."

Ooh great, a scientology video! (CCHR was started by the church of scientology).

Just as a general rebuttal to the video's claims about "no tests"; what we do have are confirmed double-blind studies as to the effectiveness of psychotropic, anti-psychotic, etc meds in treating behaviors.

The effort of the APA and their handbook is to provide a codefied standard for diagnosing these behaviors. Yes, mental illness is just a spectrum of behaviors that are arbitrarily categorized into different "illnesses" such as bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, etc.

That said, it is important to apply a little extra critical thinking when dealing with psychiatry/psychology as they are more subjective than cardiology or orthopedics.

I think you've intercepted a propaganda film, created by Scientologists.

Pretty much every statement in the film is a bold-faced lie.

Psychiatry denial is more dangerous than Holocaust denial, IMO.

Just to add to this: not only was the CCHR started by the CO$, but it is still a division of the Church. The CCHR has repeatedly filed for tax exemption as a religious organization, and the Church of Scientology lists it on their books for this purpose.

Many prominent critics of Psychiatry have left the organization, because they discovered that the CCHR was not merely being scientifically critical, but was fabricating their case. They generally object to the CO$' tendency toward racketeering and other illegal activities. Peter Breggin, for example.

The CO$ is about as far from skepticism as you can get. The CO$ has been convicted with forgery of government documents, related to attempts to discredit CSICOP, for example.
