The dwarf planet Eris

HAIL ERIS! HAIL DISCORDIA!

I would like to fully endorse the decision to name the new dwarf planet Eris. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's after the greek goddess, but HAHA science! The greek goddess Eris and the Discordian Eris are one and the same, only one has a funny hat! I'm not sure which one has the funny hat as I am not an expert on hat humor; perhaps someone could elucidate further. Nevertheless, Our time has come! And now we will slink back in the shadows because, man, fame sucks.

On a different note, anyone know for definite the official classification of Eris? Wikipedia says it's a dwarf planet, but "Liar Liar Pants On Fire" Fox News states it's an actual planet.

My mistake! The height-challenged planet formerly known as Eris! Er! The Differently-sized planet formerly known as Eris!

Why! Are we! Yelling! So much!

It's not a dwarf planet. It's "vertically challenged."

Strange, because even Michael Brown (the discoverer) said Eris was the obvious choice...

Hail Eris!

Hail Yes!

But it's settled then, right? This is definitely just a dwarf planet, and not something kids are going to have to remember when they recite the solar system? Hey, they're gonna change that, too, right? Like, every time a kid messes up and says "Pluto" at the end we're gonna whack him on the knuckles with a stick?

That's strange, I thought they would more likely go after the fact that IAU demoted the only "planet" named by an American...

Well, Xena has still left her mark on the system. Eris, or Strife to use the English translation of her name, was one of Xena's nemeses, even if the producers did mess up and cast the role as a male god.

And the moon, although no longer Gabrielle, is named for the goddess Lawless (Dysnomia) and so still connects to the Warrior Princess played by Lucy Lawless.
