Yet another forum and TAM virgin

Well, it took a few years to save up, but I registered and will be attending my first TAM this year! (Not sure if signing up also makes me a JREF member for a year, but if not I'll do that too.) I'm looking forward to it quite a bit and it looks like there's so much to do that I won't get time to see the city, but hopefully I can tag along with some night-owls once or twice to see The Strip and maybe downtown.

Anyway, figured it was time to join the forum too. With any luck I'll have some good thoughts or information to contribute, at least enough to allow adding an avatar.

I'm pretty meek otherwise, but Susan Cain says it's okay to be introverted, right? Just not all the time.

hi i am new here, but have lurked for years.

i prefered to stay on conspiracy forums, for i believed in some, they are presented in dishonest and misleading ways to make money, ive concluded after many lost years.

yes, i posted alot on the david icke forum, a nest of the gullible and nutcases.
these days, it turned into a racist cespit on top of that.

pardon my spelling

Welcome to the forums, Swan and Hadabusa.

Hadabusa, conspiracies abound. 9/11 is the most talked about on these forums. Where are you from?

Hi Swan. I'll look forward to seeing what you choose for an avatar.

You might want to check out the TAM X Roll Call and see some other forum members that plan to attend.

Hello also Hadabusa. I'll look forward to seeing what conspiracies you do believe.

Welcome hadabusa!

If you believed in 9/11 conspiracy theories, I have a link in my signature to a thread where former believers share their stories. I'd love to hear yours!

I'd also like to hear your experiences on conspiracy forums. Been there, been called a shill numerous times. I bet you've got some good stories. Share!

it was the same for me like for many.

at first i thought i discovered things that nobody knew, thought youtube is the new outlet of truth, falling for one conspiracy after the other, haha, it felt like a renaissance where people finaly see the light.

eventualy, i could see its all bs, twisted lies, presented in misleading ways or straight up made up by some kinda smart people who wanted to make money out of it or by poor, entirely deluded people.

Awesome. So glad you broke free from that!

Your story describes just what we try to tell the CTists, but they won't listen. They're too caught up in feeling like they have insider knowledge; that they are special, when in fact they are just like so many other muddled thinkers. They seem to be afraid of thinking things through, and thinking for themselves. Again, well done for seeing reason.

How did you happen to join the JREF Forum?

yeah, what catches truthers is their lack of will to research things for themselves, theyre gulible and just believ claims in any video with spooky music.
but as ive said, the videos are presented in misleading ways and peoples attention spans these days are rather short, so cant really blame them.

and then there is this denial thing, when facing evidence contrary to their own new beliefs, they will claim its all forged and fake.
thats when theyre gone beyond repair.

how did i join here, well i first heard of this place because a member here has posted a link on the david icke forum to here, ive found this place very interesting, albeit some people here are just as extreme like truthers, which i dont like btw.
some people fom here also post there and i got along with them very well, namely apollo gnomon and macguyver1968.everyone on the ikeforum was hostile towards them, while i stayed polite and defended them even though we didnt agree on everything.
now that the icke staff has banned me(you cant question ickes stuff there, even though he says question everything) and i read there they missed me, ive decided to join up here.

i have many stories from there to share, i promise they are of high comedy value, i just dont know yet where to post them up.

the icke staff deserves many things, the place has turned into something where holocaust hoax is accepted as fact, racists have been alowed to steamroll on there to atract traffic etc.

there is or was many good people there who dont believe any of the cts, but hung around for fun and rather talk posibilities, but the site is run like a sect.

they promote every single ct there, no matter how stupid it is, as long
it brings traffic.

icke has a wannabe singer son who is promoted by the same guy who runs the forum, who was an mtv employee/producer.
and icke complains about evil agenda of music industry

yea, cancer is funghus, rothschild own everything, earth and moon are hollow, he just copies stuff from other bs artists and adds his own flavour and sells that.

Just a quick intro before I find the time to settle in and take a look around. My name's Peter Daley, I'm an Australian living in South Korea where I find myself surrounded by all manner of crazy criminal cults. I'm interested in three in particular, two Korean and one Indian, and all of them operate in the US.

I operate the largest website about the first cult, known as JMS after the initials of the its leader, a former Moonie who fled Korea in 1999 the day after rape allegations aired on national TV. He spent 9 years on the run, wracking up 100s more rape allegations in pretty much every country he hid in. Finally arrested in China and sentenced to (just) ten years jail. His cult continues, but at least he's not raping anymore. I can't link to my site yet, but it contains a staggering amount of material: videos, testimonies, articles, 3 hour-long sermons, pretty much the works. Google JMS cult and you'll find it.

Just the one article about them in the US from the University of California San Diego Guardian newspaper. Google the name of the article which is "Alleged Cult Sows Seeds Via Campus Event"

The second is Brahma Kumaris, I wrote an article about them after an Australian member with a very dubious CV tried recruiting at my place of work:
Google Keimyung Doomsday cult.

And last but not least, these guys.. Google "Rick Ross Ki Health"

Sorry that was longer than I had planned. Thanks for reading and I look forward to spending more time here. I've been a fan of James for quite a while.
Cheers,

Welcome, Peter72.

Is this your site?

http://www.jmscult.com/home/

You might want to start a thread in another of the subforums to discuss this guy, or the other two cults.

Until you get enough posts to post links, you can get around that by substituting parts of the URL, e.g.,: websitename dot com.

Hello, everyone. I'm new here, as you can see. Whether I can be called a "skeptic" depends on what sense of the word you are using. If "skeptic" is taken to mean someone who is concerned with having evidence and logical arguments to back up ideas, then I am one. But, in philosophy, "skepticism" is essentially based on the claim that certainty is impossible. So, since I think certainty is possible, I'm not a skeptic in that sense.

Glad to be here.

Hi there, SoA.

I also think certainty is possible but then, I'm a cynic, so maybe I don't count.

No wait . . . that's not right. Of course I count.

Obviously everyone else is wrong.

Yeah, that must be it.

Anyway . . . Welcome!

Oh.

I wonder if I could borrow some of his thermite to blow the extra 'l' off the end of my vowel in Post #1099.

How embarrassment.

Hi there skepteen.

You're a better wo/man than I am, Gunga Din. A few people have told me that the CT sub-forum is a lot of fun but every time I've wandered in there by mistake I've ended up all lost and frightened.

"To each his own", however, is what they say, so good luck to you, my friend.

That's quite an achievement. Our highest here is only 62,000 and second highest is about 45,000.

You'll be caught up to them in no time.

Welcome to the Forum, Donna.

Must be hard, what with you being so verbose and stuff.

We had a guy who got over 40,000 and we swear at least half of them were one word, "Evidence?"

Welcome aboard, DonnaInVA. What brings you to our neck of the woods (or beaches and jungles in my case)? And are we allowed to inquire as to just where you accumulated 65,000 posts? (Just curious - we're not stalkers or anything... but say, that was a lovely blouse you had on this morning.)

I'm back...

Hi there y'alll...

My name is Charlie, I'm from Dayton, and after several years of just limiting myself to one board, I've decided to come back to the one that started it all for me.

For various emotional reasons, it should be a good thing to expose myself (figuratively speaking) to a wider circle of people. As the old saying goes, you don't have to be crazy to participate here, but it helps. On that basis, I should fit right in...

Anyway, I'm back again, and will try to participate in at least a couple topics on a regular basis. We shall see if this lowers the average monthly bill at the pshrink...

Hi Charlie. Welcome back.

Although that sounds a bit silly, since it's me that's the new kid on the block.

Hey, Charlie.... and welcome back. I don't want to be the bearer of sad tidings and don't know if you found out elsewhere, but in your absence, Mr. Skinny passed away. Based on your location and longevity, I figure you may have met at some point.
