MOV to MP3?

Help!

Normally when I record the podcast, I use a program that automatically saves the audio files as .MOV. I then toss it in my Mac's iTunes and have it convert to MP3, then send those files on to Steve, the person who mixes everything. This time around, I accidentally uploaded the MOV files. Whoops! Steve has a PC, and on the PC version of iTunes apparently you can't conver to MP3, only to AAC, which won't work. Does anyone know the easiest way Steve can convert the files, without me having to peddle home at lunch and upload the MP3s?

Thanks!

By the way, he uses Audacity but says it won't do the conversion.

I've never had a need to go from mov to mp3 but this has worked well for me to convert one format to another.

My IT dept. is also working on figuring this out -- they downloaded that same program, ShowMe, and they couldn't get it to work for some reason...

I think QuickTime Pro will do that. I don't know about the free version.

iTunes will convert to mp3 if you change the default CD import option to mp3. Go to Edit|Preferences|Advanced|Importing, then set "Import Using" to "MP3 encoder". The the convert choice on files in iTunes becomes "Convert to MP3."

edited to add: don't know specifically if this will convert MOV files, but maybe he just doesn't know you can convert to MP3 at all since out of the box it's set to AAC.

you might want to look at audio hijack pro and fission. AHP added a bunch of features for podcasts (and can record directly to MP3) and fission can edit MP3's without conversion.

This site can apparently be used to convert anything to anything. I haven't tried for it so I can't vouch for it, but since it's a web interface, it has to be safer than any program that you might want to download.
