Since this was mentioned today, I’d thought I’d see what people's thought are about this here (I’m sure I can guess).

Here’s a couple little snippets:

If true, it's kind of an interesting story. At best, someone in Hinkley's family knew someone in George Bush's family. At worst, the Bush family found a crazy person to shoot Ronald Reagan. However, there's not even a hint of a government conspiracy in those stories.

So what? He was also an ex-Navy pilot. By your logic, the Navy tried to kill Ronald Reagan. Besides, if Bush Sr. was behind it, he would have made sure to be in Washington to take over from Reagan.

Here's the conspiracy theory. I'm not saying I believe in it, but I do know many Conspiracy theories. So don't chop off my head. Ronald Reagan was shot so George HW Bush could become President -- to achieve goals re the New World Order. Fortunately, it didn't work. A photo exists of a guy crouching down on a screened-in terrace to Hinckley's right and up a flight. He was shooting too. I hope I can locate the picture. It doesn't matter to the oil barons who else gets killed. I feel so sorry for the others who were shot. That's the theory as to why. It was a serious attempt on his life with the neurotic patsy found shooting nearby.

Dick Gregory maintains that they took a mentally ill man who was in love with a movie star, have him shoot a President who was an actor on Academy Awards Day. Just reporting.
