Militant Athiesm: Is it all bad?

Recently, some have been accusing people such as Dr. Richard Dawkins, among others, of being militant athiests.
I say, "So what?"
I personally believe it is about time athiests started being vocal and loud about their beliefs - especially in the United States of America. It is about time for athiesm to be socially acceptable!
The good thing about militant athiesm compared to other militant religions (athiesm, in my mind, is a religion. But only in the negative sense.) is this: Athiests are not about to kill themselves for what they believe. No athiest is going to risk their neck when they don't believe they're going to get a replacement one in the afterlife!

Well, it bothers the moderate theists and may have the effect of driving them into the (political) arms of the militant theists.

Probably abuse a wife.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to spell atheist right.

Based on what I have seen in the past few years, it is already doing that.
