And what makes it even more amazing (or hard to believe) is that the magician assures there's only three cards involved.

the problem with utube video is that you can stop action and pretty much watch frame by frame to see the trick.

Cool slight of hand though.

Patricio, if you want to learn how to do this, look me up at TAM6. The moves are very easy to learn.

There is only three cards involved.
Ironically I watched this yesterday on YouTube.Simple trick.

Looking at his comments I don't know why such a fuss is being made over the trick.Just goes to show the simplest ones impress the most.

This is a home-made version of Color Monte. Paul Wilson has a better version in his A-1 video "Knock'em Dead." I am pleased to see a lot of people on YouTube are impressed precisely because it is so easy to break down (which is why the performer should not be broadcasting it).

Gypsy Monte is a better version, and the handling is improved.

I've been doing Color Monte for years now, but I've never heard of Gypsy Monte. I'll have to look it up.

btw, Az: I finally had the chance to finish Derren Brown's "Devil's Advocate." Much of it is very impressive, though not all new. Mostly his handling was good, too, though I thought a couple of moves were obvious.

What surprised me most were his invisible deck predictions (for those who haven't seen it, it's not the Trademarked Invisible Deck, but card predictions without cards). I thought they were obvious, even on first look. Curiosity may lead me to try them out. Especially since I had my first "performance" in a long while last Friday. Work colleagues had an informal lunch and, with one day's notice, asked me to "do a few things, please." I got seven effects ready and used only five. Card Warp was the opener (a fortuitous misprint on my new business cards allowed me to weave a tale about "quantum dualities" and such) followed by three mentalist card effects. Finished up with a quarter steal (don't know the name). As it had been so long, I was a bit nervous, but got good response.

Now I have to watch "Something Wicked."

Hi Garrette..yes there's nothing new on Picturebook but typical Derren boldness.I don't even attempt some of his moves!

Gypsy Monte uses Tarot Cards.I must have learned it twice,I keep forgetting it! On to the third attempt now.

Anyone who is really serious about learning the moves used in the trick can check Michael Ammar's Easy to Master Card Miracles. Vol. 5 (esp. Hofzinger All Backs) and Vol. 9 (esp. Fists of Frost) describe most or all of the moves.

And yet, to the lay person, the Ammar tricks bear virtually no resemblance to what is shown in the You Tube video. That is because the moves are useful for a lot of effects. It depends what sort of story you want to tell. I recently used some of the moves as part of a mind-reading trick, for example.

Well, yes. On a frame by frame I figured out that there are not two "THIS" cards, as it seems to be the case at first glance. Also, on the first move it's pretty clear which one the "OTHER" card is.

That's for sure, Brown. Thanks!

Wow, that video brought back memories. I used to perform Color Monte about 20 times a day and sell it for $10 a pop!
