Remember to change your clocks!

Just thought I'd remind everyone to change their clocks for the Daylights Savings Time change.

Are we setting our clocks ahead another hour?

I set my clocks ahead on March 11th as per the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Sorry, I forgot about the automatic set forward that a lot of operating systems do.

My Timex 313B Auto-Set Dual-Alarm Preset-Tuning Clock Radio quietly and firmly insisted on resetting itself for DST at 2 AM today, and I was eventually forced to manually reprogram it with a small ball-peen hammer.
I cannot very highly recommend the Timex 313B Auto-Set Dual-Alarm Preset-Tuning Clock Radio.

Whatever Internet time server my Windows XP system uses did not know that daylight savings time started in March. And it still thought it started today. Come on, people!

Switch to time.nist.gov; they define the correct time.

Allow me to remind you to check todays date before falling for Art's trick.

Happy April Fools day to you too, Art.

You're all using this new-fangled Gregorian Calendar. I'm still on Julian. No daylight saving and it's compatible with Linux.

Ha, at least I don't need to worry about these issues with the clock in the ham shack- it stays on GMT and save for an occasional tweak never gets changed.

On the other hand, the computer clock did it's usual shift to DST even though I did that back in march. But it was easier to take 10 seconds and bump it back an hour than hunt around for a Windows patch, download it, get it in the proper file and reboot the computer....and hope it didn't have any bugs to deal with.

Twice a year, my husband and I look at all of the timekeeping devices around the house (house, woodshop, office, two vehicles), look at each other, and smile at how nice it is to live in a place that doesn't participate in that nonsense.

Move to Australia. We finished with daylight saving over a week ago.

And two other times a year, you and your husband run around and set the clocks so they are accurate.

You've gained nothing!

Accurate? Since when does island living require times to be accurate?

Or if you're using Windows 2000 you have to manually do it via Ye Olde Registry hacking.

Not that it is a big deal and all, it is just that I am lazy.

Micros**t has a fix for that, that will allow you to specify when DST begins and ends, and adjust the offset. It seems to work. Look for "TZEDIT."

Here in Arizona we don't have DST. So as long as my computer knows it's in Arizona, I can just sit back and watch you all run around like chickens with your heads cut off.

Me too. Don't know about where you live, but around here it's a big debate. People seem to think daylight saving time adds an extra hour to the day.

It's a proven fact that things are just better in Saskatchewan and Arizona. It's true!

Nope, not under debate, not even under consideration. (Hint: we are much closer to the equator . . .)

And Hawaii! (Hence the hint above.)

I wonder what kind of interest all of the daylight saved accrues.

One a loan shark would love. We lose an hour on a Sunday morning, then get it back with an extra hours daylight every evening until the end of daylight saving, then we get back the hour that we lost at the beginning of daylight savings. In short the interest is 100% per day!

As for changing the time on clocks, it only takes a few minutes each time.
