Thousands March Against USA in Iraq

So it has finally come. Mochtada Al Sadr has called upon Shiites to attack American troops. And today, on the 4th anniversary of the fall of Baghdad, tens of thousands of Iraqis marched in Najaf demanding American forces leave Iraq. Some Iraqis tore apart and burned American flags.

Is this the end of the American occupation/liberation? Will this turn into political momentum that will force the American troops to go home?

Or is this just a large, vocal, yet insignificant outpouring of a small minority opinion.

In August of 2004, they used guns, mortars, rockets, and MG's to protest Americans in An Najaf.

This year, it's burning flags.

Some would call that an improvement, I call it Al Sadr not wanting to get another ass whipping at the hands of the Marines.

The Iraqi people loved Saddam.

Never a peep of protest back in those days.

Hey guess what Abdul......a lot of then did love him.

The ones that were doing ok and not on the list of undesirables....There is also the well known "good ol days" syndrome where everyone remembers past times as being just peachy. If you are looking for something to unite disaffected people then a foreign army will do just fine.

Kinda hard to have a consistent protest when everyone disappears the next day.
