Blackout & UFOs

Back in the 60's when this happened and in 77 the Woo Woos started stories about UFOs being seen near power stations.

So I want to dedicate this thread to the upcoming chat boards and "quickly being written paperbacks" and Supermarket tabloids which will - and I'll bet any money on this - prove that it was really UFOs that caused this to happen.

I just know this is going to happen.

Personally, I think they will discover that Planet X finally passed by, too close to some power stations.

I prefer Bush conspiracy to frighten the population and keep us in line a-la Big Brother "War is Peace".

Beats silly UFOs any day.

Unless we hear about a rash of sore anuses tomorrow

They'll blame Mars.

Well, the woowoos will, anyways.

Well, a thorough googling turned up nowt, which indicates the ironic event that the very first link between UFOs and the NY03 power cut was made by a sceptic on a sceptic board.

Supercharts, you're a-headin' for infamy!

I'm thinking Lucianarchy used his superpowers to cause the power outage. We should inform the FBI of his psychic terrorism.

Now that I've had some time to don my mirror ball hat and gaze into my Magic 8-ball, I foresee...

The blackout will be blamed on UFOs, PLanet X, HAARP, chemtrails, Bush, FEMA, the NWO, Atlanteans, the Illuminati, the Clintons and Elvis. Simultaneously.

Oh, and at least one teevee preacher will assure us that it was God punishing us for something or other, and Ann Coulter will blame it all on liberals.

Never underestimate the creativity of woowoos. When you don't know what you're talking about, you have unlimited artistic license.

George Noory had a guest on Coast to Coast a.m. last night who speculated that is was a government EMP effect weapon test that got out of control.

I never know what to make of that show. They also had Ramon Lopez on, who is a scientist in Texas. He cowrote the book "Storms from the Sun", about how solar storms can knock out power. He was very clear that this was not due to a solar event. I had been wondering if the blackout was solar-induced as well; in 1989 a coronal mass ejection blew out the Quebec grid. But there was no big solar activity before this blackout.

So anyway I give C2C kudos for having Ramon on, but a "feh" for the other guy.

It was funny, actually; when Noory was talking about the possibility of this being a solar storm, I was thinking of "Storms from the Sun"; the other author is Mike Carlowicz, a friend of mine. When he introduced Ramon, I laughed out loud.

At least when Art Bell was the host, he occasionally seemed to not believe, or at least to be tongue-in-cheek.

Noory however seems to accept every claim as perfectly valid. As I said in another thread back when he first hosted - he makes Art Bell look like Randi.

I actually have to give him credit for something he did recently. A young boy called in and said that he sees "rods" all the time, with the naked eye. Noory actually told the kid he should see an eye doctor "just in case" it wasn't rods he was seeing.
