Jason Bermas Arrested at Republican Debate

Report over at 9-11 Blogger:

Quote:
In early reports from the scene, Jason Bermas of Loose Change, and Matt of WeAreChange, were arrested while confronting Rudy Giuliani's spindoctor on whether or not he had read the "homework" he got from Ron Paul. These are early reports, but it's all we've got so far.
Let's hope the Secret Service stops allowing these clowns with Infowars Press Passes to attend these events.

After this happened I got a call from the NWO. Seems like they've put their plan to extract all of the Truthers from the world into action...

Turns out this was a pretty rough day for the "Truther" press; Christopher Bollyn was found guilty of assault and faces up to a year in the slammer:

Quote:
The jurors said they saw holes in Bollyn's account of police brutality. Tuesday, they found the 50-year-old former Hoffman Estates mayoral candidate guilty of resisting arrest and aggravated assault.

He faces up to a year in prison and is to appear before Judge Hyman Riebman for sentencing June 25.

"I can't talk about it right now," a despondent Bollyn said minutes after the verdict.

Are they doing a pre-election blitz or something? Ganging up on Giuliani is their new shtick now it seems... No political agenda eh? What is it going to be like when the real election time comes?

dont worry, statistically speaking, the age group that these troofers represent ( 18-24) rarely go to the polls and vote anyway (2004 election, only 47% of that age group actually voted). the biggest group is the over 65 crowd, as they maintain a 70% voter participation rate (save for the more "internet savy" few, they would probably not know about the 911 troof movement anyway). the ages between 24 an 65 average a 60% voter participation rate

I have to say that these people are a good argument why voting should NOT be compulsory!

(Those who know my stance on that issue will appreciate the irony...)

It's not their vote that I'm worried about, it's their increasingly pro-active behavior, if you see what I mean...

It's one thing to spout nonsense on the internet, but another to go harass political figures in person.

So lemme get this straight. They go to a convention where you need press passes to enter through; just like any other convention. Of course, they didn't have them, but still pretended to go forward. They encounter one of the guys, make accusations based on a spliced up audio CREATED by these people, and call this is an infringement of their rights?

I noticed the wing nuts are positioning themselves to rationalise the primary and election outcomes so that no matter who wins it's still an "inside job".

The sad part is, if these people spent even half the energy and time involving themselves in real-world political dialogue rather than asshat theories and getting themselves arrested, they just might be able to make a difference.

PS: Finally had a chance to go to the ae911 "truth" site. I looked at their on-line store to discover they're selling bumper stickers for a twoonie. A Kevin Barrett book for a sawbuck. Anyone have any idea where that money is going? I think we ought to be asking questions like that and demanding answers.

Jason Bermas was arrested and thrown into the back of a black maria with a hood over his head, and dragged manacled into a fema concentration camp?

No?

Damn. Can't the NWO goons do anything right?

Oooh! They're getting too close to the truth! Unfortunately, the truth is that they're frickin' idiots. I like how they play it off as if the questions being asked are too tough, when the guy clearly states he believes it's a setup, which is why he asks several times to see his credentials. That crazy Ashton Kutcher...

I am amused

Quote:
Even though Mr. Lapecek was unable to specifically question Giuliani he was able to pepper one of Giuliani's staff members with hard questions. Despite asking these questions in a respectful manner, Mr. Lepacek was escorted out of the building even though he was asking legitimate questions and had press credentials issued to him by the debate organizers. Mr. Lepacek protested his removal from the post-debate press area and demanded to know from police officers why his Constitutional rights were being violated. He attempted to re-enter the building and was subsequently arrested and charged with criminal trespassing for merely exercising his Constitutional rights. What made this even crazier was the fact that most of this was broadcast via a live web camera feed on the We Are Change web site. Hundreds of people witnessed Mr. Lepacek be arrested by the police officers even after he informed them that video of the events were being broadcast live on the Internet.

Yeah, (forgive the foot in political commentary here, it really isn't in context) compare that to the voter turnout in Iraq, where voting can get you killed.

Their repeated harassment of anyone and everyone in the political arena is starting to really bother me- they are confronting politicians and their staff who are largely ignorant of the details (and really have no reason not to be- sane and rational people don't need to know the details) and then claim there's evidence of a conspiracy because they "refuse" to answer their questions.

You do not have a right to harass people- there is no Constitutional right to re-enter a building from which you have been asked to leave. A "press pass" does not circumvent property rights. He was not respectful, he was not "just asking a question" and the rest of the video shows why- the other members of the press do not follow you around and hound you after you have said "send me your documentation, I think you're making this up".

This was harassment. The police did the right thing.

More details on Lepacek's arrest here.

Quote:
Though CNN staff members tried to persuade police not to arrest the accredited reporter-- in violation of the First Amendment, Lepacek was taken to jail. The police station told JonesReport.com that Lepacek is being charged with felony criminal trespass.

Lepacek did receive one phone call in jail which he used to contact reporter Luke Rudkowski. According to Rudkowski, Lepacek was scared because he had been told he may be transferred to a secret detention facility because state police were also considering charges of espionage against him-- due to a webcam Lepacek was using to broadcast live at the event. State police considered it to be a hidden camera, which led to discussion of "espionage."

Okay, it's been hours now! Have the news media picked up the story yet? (Hundreds of reporters were present when it happened, so there's no reason for delay, unless maybe they're still gathering all the facts.) Which cities' populations have risen up in outrage so far?

If these things haven't happened yet, and fail to happen today or tomorrow at the latest, I'll be very disappointed in the prophetic powers of the people in the tnrlive chat room last night.

This reminds me of the people who complained for quite a lengthy period of time that they military unjustly injured them after they were 'peacefully' protesting outside a nuclear base.

Of course, their definition of 'peaceful protest' involved trying to breach the gate, attempting to cut holes in a fence and verbally abusing guards.

Trespassing is not a constitutional right. I can't believe some people consider it to be one.

We ought to send links to the Gravysites to each of the major candidate's press people, with a copy of this little video (as explanation for sending the links). They can print out a sheet of websites and when the doofuses ask their questions, they can just pull out the sheet and hand it to them. Or print the whole several reams of papers out, and pull them out and beat them about the head and shoulders with them.

Hmmm. I jsut typed "LAPACEK" into google. Checked the news links. Nothing. Looks like it's just another important news story that was squashed by the NWO.

And I just checked out that video. The only thing I learned is that Bermas is a lot shorter than I thought.

Actually, I don't mind this at all. For two reasons:

1. Even though I strongly feel that the people removed and arrested were in the wrong, it is, in fact, a case of people being arrested for speaking their minds (however rudely or disruptively) at a press event. All such cases should be scruitinized, and the authorities forced to justify their actions (which I'm fairly certain they can, in this case).

2. The first impression the video clip makes is hardly favorable to the truthers, and nothing happens later to reverse that. We hear and see at least three people all shouting questions at once at a person who's trying to move away from them, and pursuing him through the crowd. The "we weren't doing nuthin!" complaints afterward ring very hollow. Their behavior is right there on the video. If I were the truthers, I'd get an edited video uploaded quick, showing only the end of the arrest and the protests of innonce. Oops, too late.

Multiple people shouting "Why won't you answer the question?" at someone, without any sign of a pause to allow him to answer the question if he wanted to, will not win them sympathy.

Respectfully,
Myriad

He's referring to the claim that Giuliani knew of the collapse of the towers prior to the South Tower crumbling. A lot of people think Jones edited the tape--it does have some skips in it, which should make us skeptics concerned. But in this case it appears that it's just a poor quality tape. Here's a good quality bit without the skips:

I AGREE

But the fact that Giuliani may have received a warning about this is not a surprise to anybody but the Deniers. A structural engineer warned Battalion Chief John Peruggia shortly before the collapse (although he was initially concerned about the North Tower, not the South) that building failure was imminent.

1. to answer the question if they arrest people for being stupid...if that was the case we would no longer need to post rebuttal here.

2. The Martyrdom comment, unfortunately, is correct. That is, in part, why these guys are so aggressive. They know if they get their sound byte...great, if not, and they get in trouble...even better...makes for better video.

3. I find it funny, but expected, that everyone they approach has this "deer in the headlights" look. When the twoofers see this, do they not understand that this is the first of many signs that these people are innocent, and have NO IDEA about the 9/11 Inside Job crap being spewed?

They apparently got credentials from CNN. I hope that just means that CNN was responsible for checking credentials and decided to be quite open-minded about who qualified. These days the media are being a little nicer to bloggers and so CNN may have decided to let them in.

Great point.

Imagine being a public figure (or a press agent, etc) and someone rushing up to you shouting, "Isn't it true that Lizard People have infiltrated your organization?"

Your WTF are you talking about initial look is then described as a "deer in the headlights" and somehow then interpreted by the lizard lovers as proof that that you're busted.

Comedy gold. You really can't make this stuff up.

I said it elsewhere earlier today and I think I'll make it my mantra.

Crazy people don't know that they're crazy.

*facepalm*

So why on earth did they reject showing their passes when the person they were harassing was asking for them?!

Idiots.

I AGREE

But the fact that Giuliani may have received a warning about this is not a surprise to anybody but the Deniers. A structural engineer warned Battalion Chief John Peruggia shortly before the collapse (although he was initially concerned about the North Tower, not the South) that building failure was imminent.
Ahh ok.

According to the initial reports, it was Jason Bermas who was arrested. Now we are being told it was Lepacek.

Why the change in story? What are they trying to cover up?

Hmmm...
