Neal Boortz recites (goofy but fascinating/serious) British global warming study

On his radio show just a bit ago this Monday, he recited for about 10-15 minutes, the dardedest stuff you ever heard. Very fun listening to this.

Maybe you can find this on the net somewhere.

I highly recommend it if for nothing else, for it's entertainment value. Ever since Terry Thomas was in the movie, "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" (1963 I think), I have grown very fond of the stuff that has come from the mouths of the British, including that British pro-golf analyst (Ben Wright) who was fired for saying on tv that women's boobs interfere with their golf swing...and Monty Python's Flying Circus, and Benny Hill, etc.

Neal said that the study says that if you walk for 3 miles, all the energy involved due to your burning calories, and the food needed for you to recover from this loss, and the machinery/fuel involved in producing/transporting/cooling, etc. the food, causes more global warming than if you took the same 3 mile trip by car! (I'm not making this up.)

Or, burning wood adds less to global warming than recycling of wood products does.

Or that if you feel you are doing your part to help agaisnt global warming by putting in a CFL light bulb...if you did, and you were to buy 2 bags of imported vegatables, you wouid negate the gains made by the light bulb!

Etc., etc.

I am doing my part to become carbon-neutral. On Thursday I'm having all the carbon atoms in my body removed!

Boortz (like many) will latch on to anything that doesn't support radical lifestyle change and trumpet it.

What. For reciting something that was put out there by some other group?

If something else comes up new, I'll let you know.

No, no, this is merely one item in a long strand of idiocy that ranges from simple racism to complete separation from reality, such as this "Nealz Nuze" post where he claims--in big, bold font, mind you--that "all terrorists are Muslims." (And this was directed at the British, which gave it an extra-special layer of "stupid.")

There is already a thread about this in Science. It is indeed a bit goofy to compare the entire chain of production for one thing (beef) to what is emitted by a single car.

The thing is there's LOTS of things putting more carbon etc. in the atmosphere but they've been there for ages and are contributing to the normal temperature, the problem is we're adding to that stuff that hadn't been there 100 years ago.

Don't forget to compost all your garbage, to make sure the carbon dioxide gets back into the atmosphere where it belongs!

That's indeed a valid point, that maybe was overlooked. Sometimes people think they are so smart they don't see the atmsophere through the cow manure, or maybe I shoud say flatulance.
