Oh wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. I didn't realize he was in such a serious condition although we knew he was in the hospital. This must have been after the latest podcast, right? Because they didn't mention it.

He will be missed.

I listen to that podcast. Perry was a fun, great-natured person. He was much too young to disappear. Way too young -- it's unsettling on a profound level.

Perry's obit:

Perry J. DeAngelis
DEANGELIS Perry J. DeAngelis, age 43, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Terry Wegener DeAngelis, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2007 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of Lawrence and Marie Cook DeAngelis of Easton and had resided in Fairfield for 20 years. Perry graduated from Joel Barlow High School and attended NYU. He was a property manager for 149 Deerfield St. LLC. He was co-founder of the New England Skeptical Society and was an avid gamer. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his brother, Derald DeAngelis of Easton, his two sisters, Marie McCright of Ansonia, and Celeste Unfried of Monroe, and two nieces. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., Stratford. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Perry's memory to; Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923.
Published in the Connecticut Post from 8/22/2007 - 8/23/2007.

(I don't think I can post links yet but the SGU forum has the link and there is a guest book to sign at the obit site if you are so inclined.)

Perry has become part of what Robert G Ingersoll described as the "eternal silence." Thanks to SGU, here on earth, Perry will never be silenced.

Thanks, guys. I just got back from Connecticut this morning after spending a few hours last night celebrating Perry's life at his wake. There was a tremendous crowd there, including some of the podcast listeners. I know it really means a lot to his other friends and family to hear about how much impact he had.

It almost feels like I just lost a member of my own family....

We must honor his memory by remember what made him such a great man, his undaunted honesty.

iTunes just picked up the weekly podcast, and I saw the title, and I thought no, no.

I've listened to every episode. Perry was a wonderful guy, and will be greatly missed.

I didn't realize there was a specific topic for Skeptic's Guide or I would have created my thread to Perry here instead. I had put it in Latest Commentary Issues.

Be sure to check out the upcoming episode of SGU. Perry would have approved.

FWIW, I was at his wake as well, and it was nice to see such a large turnout. No birds or monkeys, but it's fun to think they hiding in the crowd somewhere just waiting for their moment to shine.

A very moving podcast, that letter from one of the listeners said it all.

My condolences.

Perry

It still feels like there is just a big hole in the show.

Perry was awesome. He was my favorite republican.
