Magician Blaine Drenches British Press in Blood

Magician Blaine Drenches British Press in Blood

Quote:
American illusionist David Blaine shocked a group of journalists Monday when he appeared to cut off part of his ear at a news conference to promote a forthcoming stunt.
Downscaling a bit, me thinks: I've seen him on Carson Daly taking out his own heart, in a stunt that way outperformed any psychic surgeon. Take that, Clancie! (who believes in medium Brian Hurst, a fierce advocate for psychic surgery being a real phenomenon)

Quote:
Previously he has been entombed in a block of ice for 61 hours, buried in a coffin for a week and spent 35 hours standing on top of an 80-foot pillar in Manhattan.
BEEP! No, he didn't. He was standing on top of an 80-foot pillar with handles he could grip, when he got tired.

I was there. I saw it. I booed.

Carry on.

Here is an interesting article about Blaine from the British press. It seems like the tide of public opinion is turning against the guy. This is not the only negative piece I've seen about him.

There was also a very critical appraisal of his latest bit of pretend self-mutilation in The Sun.

Also, he is regularly sent up on a comedy show here.

You know, this stunt is doing exactly what it's intended too. Generate media attention. Blaines a smart guy I think. The stunt doesn't impress me over much. I bet I could do it given the resources. One of two ways. One would involve 4 inch long, 2,600 calorie "survival bars" and would most likely drive anyone stir crazy. The other?... I bet the glass tank has at least a 3 foot base made of something you can't see through.

If I broke the rule, just delete this. But this isn't really a magic trick.
