So, apparantly, anyone who's never heard of Jesus is going to burn for eternity
Found this on an apologetics FAQ:
http://www.carm.org/questions/sincere.htm Look that over. Then this one: http://www.carm.org/questions/only_way.htm So let me get this straight. Only those who know Jesus Christ can go to Heaven. Everyone else is destined to eternal torture, because eternal torture is precisely what a truly loving and merciful God would do to people who have had the misfortune of having never heard of Christ. (/sarcasm) What this means, is that, for instance, those born in remote areas in impoverished nations, such as Sudan, and thus go their entire lives without ever hearing a word about Christianity...well, they're all going to burn in Hell and there's not a darned thing they can do about it. Because Jesus SAID he was the only way to God. Contradictions: 1) Why are we continuing to refer to this God who would send an unfortunate soul to burn for--not a year, not 10,000 years, not a Google years, but ETERNITY--why are we continuing to refer to him with adjectives such as "good", "kind", "loving", and "merciful"? Seems to me he's anything but. 2) So these miracles that the second link referred to are supposed to be proof that Jesus = God. Then, where's the proof that said miracles actually occurred? And don't give me the circular reasoning of "The Bible is true because the Bible says the Bible is true". 3) Jesus supposedly died for our sins and "saved" us. So why does sin still exist? And just who exactly did Jesus "save" if it's still possible to go to Hell? 4) Furthermore, if Jesus = God, and God is all powerful, it raises this obvious question: Why would God need to sacrifice himself, to himself, in order to forgive humanity for breaking rules that were originally created by him in the first place? 5) Why does God care whether people believe in him? 6) Why does God care whether people believe Jesus was his incarnation? 7) Let's assume for the sake of argument that for whatever reason, God DOES care. Why, then, does he actively lead us AWAY from believing in him? Why did he plant dinosaur bones in the ground, evidence of the Big Bang, evidence of evolution, etc. if he cares so much about us believing in him? Why is the human brain--which he apparently created--even capable of doubt, skepticism, and critical thinking, if he cares so much about us believing in him. And one more that is somewhat unrelated to the rest: 8) Why do Christians get so offended when anyone suggests that a loving God would not torture people for eternity? It's almost as if they WANT there to be eternal torment waiting for people. |
