A Meeting of Minds

Older members of this board might remember the old Steve Allen Show from the 50's & early 60's. It was a great show. Steve was a great jazz piano player, too.

Anyway, in addition to the TV show, he hosted an early National Public Television broadcast called "A Meeting of Minds". The premise was to gather several historical figures around a table and have a freewheeling discussion from their respective points of view. It was extremely well done with a lot of obvious research and thought put into it. They even wore the correct period costumes. Most of the themes were religion or philosophy with some politics mixed in so it fits this forum.

One example is a debate among Isaac Newton, Louise XIV, Ghandi, Thomas Paine, and Oliver Cromwell.

The shows are available on tape and I highly recomend them.

I was thinking it might be interesting to ask this board:

If you could gather any 5 people together for a discussion,
who would you choose; why would you choose them; and,
what topic would they discuss?

John Lennon, Jesus Christ, The Buddha (who's real name I can never even come close to spelling right), Roy Moore, and Adolf Hitler.

The topic of the conversion will be "Who is hotter: Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera?"

or maybe something lame like "What is the nature of time", or something...

Plato
Buffy
Jesus
Bill Clinton
Anne Coulter

I chose them because I think these are very well written fictional Characters.

Topic: No topic, just a farting contest.

Joseph Campbell (Mythologist)
Miles Davis (Jazz Innovator)
John McLaughlin (My personal guitar hero)
Paul of Tarsus (I don't think Jesus would show up)
Elle Macpherson ( Babe-raham Lincoln)

We would discuss anything Elle wanted to.
